Creative Youth Network

A Flexible, Editor-First Website Built For Young Person’s Charity

The Brief / Challenge
Creative Youth Network supports young people across the South West through creative programmes, mentoring and opportunities that help them build confidence, skills and brighter futures.
Their existing website had become difficult to manage and even harder to evolve. Simple content changes required going back to developers, which slowed the team down and drained time and resources better spent supporting young people. On top of that, the user journey had grown confusing – particularly for a charity that needs to serve both young people seeking support and stakeholders looking to help fund or deliver it.
The brief was clear: create a website that the team could confidently control themselves, while making it easier for every visitor to quickly understand where they belong and how Creative Youth Network can help.

The Solution
We designed and built a fully custom WordPress theme that puts Creative Youth Network firmly in control.
The site is built using a combination of bespoke Gutenberg blocks and flexible custom fields, allowing pages to be assembled, edited and evolved without touching code or risking design consistency. This gives the team freedom to tell their story while keeping everything safe, structured and accessible.
Key features include:
- A clear, audience-led site structure that separates and supports different user journeys
- An easy to manage events and workshops system, designed for regular updates
- Flexible page layouts that can adapt as programmes grow or change
- A clean, welcoming design that feels supportive rather than corporate
Behind the scenes, the site is fully supported with ongoing security updates and maintenance, giving the team peace of mind while retaining complete control over their content.

The Results
Creative Youth Network now has a website that works for them – not the other way around.
The new platform is easier to navigate, clearer for young people seeking support, and more effective for stakeholders looking to engage.
Internally, the team can make changes quickly and confidently, without relying on developers for every update.
Most importantly, the website now supports the charity’s mission, acting as a flexible, future-proof platform that can grow alongside the incredible work they do with young people.
