GSK IMPACT Awards 2027

This is the larger sister scheme to the GSK Community Health programme, and it is one of the few awards in this directory where you are not asked to propose anything. You do not need to present a new project, and the money arrives unrestricted, so a website or digital rebuild is a legitimate use with no case to make to the funder about it.

What they fund
The award recognises your organisation’s existing work rather than a proposal. Up to ten winners receive £50,000 in unrestricted funding and up to five runners-up receive £5,000, also unrestricted. Winners may be asked to complete a brief questionnaire on how they used the donation, but there is no restricted budget line to stick to.

Typical grants
Up to 15 awards, ranging from £5,000 to £50,000. Winners also get free training and development valued at an average of £13,500 per organisation, plus pro bono offers from GSK including 12 months of legal support. The top award rose from £40,000 to £50,000 for the scheme’s 30th year, so older listings elsewhere still quote the lower figure.

Who can apply
Registered charities that are at least three years old, working in a health-related field in the UK, with total annual income between £150,000 and £3 million. If your income sits between £20,000 and £150,000, the GSK Community Health programme is the right route instead. GSK and The King’s Fund encourage applications from organisations led by and supporting people from under-represented backgrounds, ethnic minority communities, disabled people and LGBTQ+ communities.

The angle
Do not write about your website. This application is a portrait of the whole organisation: leadership, track record, reach, results. Make that case as strongly as you can, win the award, then spend it on the infrastructure you have been putting off. If you are mid-way through a digital project, it can appear as evidence of how you are building capability, not as the thing you are asking for.

Worth knowing
Two stages, with an assessor visit for the shortlist, so this is a months-long process rather than a form. It is genuinely competitive and weighted towards charities with several years of demonstrable outcomes. Application timetable
Stage one closes at 5pm on Wednesday 19 August 2026. Successful stage one applicants are contacted by 17 September and invited to stage two, which closes at 5pm on Monday 5 October 2026. Fifteen shortlisted organisations are visited by an assessor in autumn 2026, with judging in January 2027.
