A lot of the software charities rely on every day is free or heavily discounted, if you know where to look and how to qualify. Some of the best-known offers changed in 2025 and 2026, so older guides are out of date. This is what UK charities can get now, checked against each provider’s own pages in October 2026.
The short version
- Google Workspace for Nonprofits is free, for up to 2,000 users.
- Microsoft 365 Business Basic is free for up to 300 users, but the free Business Premium grant ended in 2025. Premium is now £4.20 per user a month for charities.
- Canva, Slack, Jira and Confluence all have free tiers for charities, and many other tools offer 15% to 75% off.
- Most offers need verification, usually through Goodstack or TechSoup, so have your charity number and documents ready.
- Watch the catches: introductory prices that renew at full rate, exclusions for religious organisations, and prices shown in US dollars.
Before you apply: get verified
Most tech companies don’t check your charity status themselves. Google, Canva, Zoom, Atlassian and Asana use Goodstack; Slack and Adobe use TechSoup. Microsoft runs its own checks. Verification usually takes a few days to two weeks, and you’ll need your charity registration number, proof of address and someone with authority to accept the terms. Use a charity email address, not a personal one, so the account stays with the charity when people move on.

Email, documents and meetings
Google Workspace for Nonprofits is free, with 100 TB of pooled storage and video calls for up to 150 people. If you need more, Business Standard and Business Plus are heavily discounted, though Google shows those prices in US dollars even on its UK pages.
Microsoft 365 changed in 2025. The free grant of ten Business Premium licences was withdrawn from 1 July 2025, at each charity’s renewal. What remains free is Business Basic, for up to 300 users, which includes email, Teams and the web and mobile versions of Office but not the desktop apps. Business Premium now costs £4.20 per user a month for charities, and Business Standard £2.70, both paid yearly and excluding VAT. Free licences are for paid staff and trustees; discounted licences can also cover volunteers. Microsoft doesn’t let an IT supplier register on your behalf, so a trustee or staff member needs to apply.
Zoom moved its charity discount to a programme called Zoom Cares: 50% off selected annual plans for organisations with an operating budget of up to $10 million.
Design and content
Canva for Nonprofits gives all Canva Pro features free to up to 50 people, which covers most charities’ social media, posters and reports. Adobe Express is free for up to 50 users, and Adobe offers discounted Acrobat Pro and Creative Cloud licences through TechSoup.
Working together
- Slack: Pro is free for workspaces with up to 250 members, and 85% off above that. Churches and other religious organisations are excluded.
- Atlassian: since February 2026, Jira, Confluence and Loom are free for up to 25 users under its Social Impact licence. Religious organisations are excluded.
- Trello: 75% off for eligible charities.
- Asana, Airtable and Notion: 50% off selected plans.
- monday.com: ten free seats for charities, listed on the Charity Digital marketplace.
Fundraising, CRM and marketing
- Salesforce Power of Us: ten free Enterprise Edition licences, either for Agentforce Nonprofit (the new name for Nonprofit Cloud) or for Sales and Service.
- Google Ad Grants: up to $10,000 a month of search advertising. Our Ad Grants guide for UK charities covers eligibility and the rules that keep you in the programme.
- Mailchimp: 15% off for verified charities. Ask before you buy, because the discount is not applied retrospectively.
- Zapier: 15% off paid plans.
- HubSpot: worth knowing that its 40% nonprofit discount currently covers only organisations registered in North America, Australia and New Zealand, so UK charities don’t qualify.
Security
- Cloudflare Project Galileo gives free protection to at-risk organisations working in human rights, civil society, journalism or democracy. It is not a general charity discount.
- 1Password offers credits or discounted accounts to charities on application.
- Multi-factor authentication is free in Google Workspace and Microsoft 365. Switch it on for every account.
Where to find more
The Charity Digital Exchange, which many charities used for discounted software, handed its catalogue over to TechSoup UK on 1 July 2025, and existing accounts moved across. TechSoup UK is now the place to look for donated and discounted products from many large software companies, and Charity Digital still lists some offers of its own. Catalyst, which ran digital support programmes for charities, closed in March 2026.
The catches
- Prices that change. Some offers are introductory, or apply only to the first payment, and renew at full price.
- Who is eligible. Several providers exclude religious organisations, schools, hospitals or grant-making foundations. Check before you build your systems around a free plan.
- Currency. Several providers only show prices in US dollars, so the cost in pounds moves with the exchange rate.
- Ownership. Set accounts up in the charity’s name with a shared admin address, so they don’t leave with whoever signed up.
Your website
WordPress itself is free and open source, though a good charity website still needs hosting, care and someone to build it well. Our guide to how much a charity website costs sets out real figures, and our free Funding Finder lists grants that can pay for one. For how we work, see charity web design.
