Schroder Charity Trust Grant

A small, tidy grant with a live deadline. The Schroder Charity Trust is an independent family trust that has funded UK charities for over seventy years, and it funds core costs, which is the phrase that matters here. Core funding pays for the running of your charity, and your website is part of running your charity, so there is no digital case to construct. The current application window is open now and closes at 5pm on 28 August 2026.

• What they fund: Core costs or restricted project costs, for one year. Applying for core costs is the website route: the grant supports your organisation as a whole, and you decide what that means in practice.
• Typical grants: Up to £5,000, single year only, with no multi-year funding. Awards have historically averaged just under the ceiling.
• Who can apply: UK registered charities with an annual income between £150,000 and £1 million, whose primary work fits one of the Trust’s two objectives following its 2024-25 strategic review: enabling children and young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds to thrive in education and employment, or strengthening communities through services that improve the wellbeing and life outcomes of vulnerable and disadvantaged people. CICs and social enterprises are not eligible, and if you have received a Schroder grant you must wait 24 months from the offer date before reapplying.
• The angle: The application is about your work and your impact for beneficiaries, not a shopping list. If your charity fits an objective and the income bracket, apply for core costs on the strength of what you do, then spend where the need is greatest, which can be the site.
• Worth knowing: There are two application windows a year and the current one runs until 5pm on 28 August 2026, with decisions expected within four months of the window closing.
